Having been invited back to Bird & Bird in 2012 following my two-year cycle across Africa, I re-joined as a Technical Consultant working on our Global Desktop Refresh project incorporating the deployment of Windows 7, Office 2010 and associated technologies using our project implemented Microsoft SCCM Architecture.

Through the coordination of an excellent team, I guided this project to a successful completion with an eventual upgrade count in excess of 2,200 seats across 25 international offices.

I am now heavily involved in the Management of further transformational projects across the firm, including the IT Integration of our recently merged firm in Sydney, Australia. Co-ordinating across disparate time zones and working on site, our team successfully delivered on time allowing our new office in Sydney to operate “Business as Usual” whilst being seamlessly integrated onto our own internal IT Systems.

In addition to managing these projects, I continue to co-ordinate the rollout of key softwares from vendors such as HP, IntApp and Microsoft whilst acting as a liaison between our IT Department and core business areas.

Over 2 Years & 2 Months I cycled from Sharm El-Sheikh (Egypt) to the Cape of Good Hope (South Africa), raising money and working for 10 Orphaned Children and Women Empowerment projects across Africa.

I primarily cycled solo whilst carefully managing the planning & donation of over £25,000 worth of equipment, materials & food on top of IT Consultancy, Web Development & Legal/Business Management skills.

Despite being determined to completed the cycle and working in often challenging, unfamiliar circumstances, I was able to develop new websites for Yenege Tesfa, Bidna Capoeira, Fahari Zanzibar, Life Beads Kenya and the Orphanage of Hearts, in addition to an online Child Management Database for Dwelling Places in Kampala, Uganda. In Naivasha, Kenya, I setup an Internet connected IT Centre for 70 kids.

All costs to sustain myself for the two years were paid entirely by personal savings; every penny raised went to these inspiring projects and I continue to support and develop them in my spare time.
